Solutions offer both a prototype/test chip service using the MOSIS MPW
service, and a small volume production service. Low Volume Production This allows users to exploit the regular fab runs conducted by MOSIS to provide production parts. In conjunction with our foundry partners, MOSIS are able to offer access to production wafer fabrication for volumes ranging for a life time requirement of 10's of parts, to 100's of wafers per year. With some foundries offering dep sub-micron processes on 200mm wafers, this can equate to millions of parts per year. For really low volume applications, you can choose to use the MPW approach, either adding additional die to the MPW reticle, or ordering more wafers with the MPW run, or both of course. For volumes above this level, you can go for a dedicated set of masks and engineering and/or production wafer batches from as little as 6 wafers. Also, with dedicated mask/wafer runs, there are no fixed tape in dates. In addition to wafer fabrication services, MOSIS have close links with European, US and Far East ceramic and plastic assembly and test service providers, so can offer low volume access to these as well.
